The vacation homes are located in a small street in the village of Vilmnitz in the beautiful countryside in the biosphere reserve in the south-eastern part of Rügen, the perfect starting point for magnificent bike tours.  The view from a 2500 m2 area southern property roams across broad fields to the narrow woodland area of Goor, which lies off of the Bodden.

The German Alleestrasse runs through Vilmnitz.  Vilmnitz is a small village  (approx. 200 inhabitants), formed around a historical church (constructed about 1240).  The church is one of the oldest sacral buildings of Rügen and is recommended as particularly worth seeing in every guide book.

Vilmnitz is centrally located. In the immediate area:

  • The historical spa Goor, approx. 1 km

  • Lauterbach, biggest yacht harbour, approx. 2 km

  • Putbus, "the white city" - classical building complex, circular square in the centre, cultural metropole of Rügen, sole theatre, approx. 2 km

  • The Bodden, reachable in 5 minutes by bike, idyllic coves and small natural shores

  • Binz is located approx. 9 km from Vilmnitz.  It is the largest and one of the most beautiful seaside resorts on the Baltic seacoast.  The other resorts such as Sellin, Baabe, and Göhren can be reached by car, but also effortlessly by bike.  The capital of the Island, Bergen, is 8 km. away and offers as district town good shopping.

Vilmnitz and its special location offer a charming and diverse environment with woods, lakes, marshes, steep coasts and sandy beaches.

In order that this diverse environment be preserved it was recognized by UNESCO in 1990 as worthy of being protected and declared the biosphere reserve of south east Rügen.
